A valid driver’s license and a good driving record are required to join Zipcar. Foreign drivers will need to submit color copies of both a valid international driver’s license and a second form of ID, such as a passport.

In most cases, Zipcar drivers must be at least 21 years old. If you’re a college student, you can use Zipcar starting at age 18. Extra restrictions apply to Michigan residents under 21; you can’t have any previous alcohol, drug-related, or other major driving violations (e.g., excessive speed, operating with a suspended license, or reckless driving).

Zipcar is a car-sharing network offering 24/7 on-demand booking. Members can book cars by the hour or for the entire day. Zipcar memberships start at $7 a month.
