Short answer: Latex-free balloons are made out of Mylar, plastic, or vinyl. Craft stores like JOANN, grocery stores like Kroger, and superstores like Walmart sell latex-free balloons for $3 and up. Your cheapest option is Dollar Tree, where Mylar balloons are $1. For more details of where to buy latex-free balloons/non-latex balloons, see below.

Where to Buy Latex-Free Balloons/Non-Latex Balloons

Latex-free balloons can be made out of Mylar (also listed as “foil”), plastic, and vinyl. Mylar balloons are the easiest to find, as they are often available at craft stores, dollar stores, superstores, and grocery store floral departments.

Latex balloons have a powder inside and out that can spread latex molecules through the air. If you, your child, or someone else has a latex allergy, it’s best to choose a latex-free option to avoid an allergic reaction.

The following retailers sell latex-free balloons. We called several store locations of each chain to confirm the availability of non-latex balloons, but, keep in mind, in-store availability will vary by location and helium filling may not be available at all stores due to the global helium shortage.

If none of the stores listed above sell a balloon that suits your needs, Amazon sells unfilled latex-free balloons. Mylar, plastic, and vinyl options are available — but be sure to search by material rather than searching for “latex-free,” as the search results for “latex-free” includes latex balloons. Balloon prices on Amazon vary by size, material, and quantity; many of the balloons Amazon sells come in multipacks. In general, price ranges from $5 to $10 for a Mylar balloon up to about $35 for a pack of reusable plastic or vinyl balloons.

In Summary

You can buy latex-free balloons — usually made of Mylar — at stores like Albertsons, Dollar Tree, Kroger, Party City, and Walmart. Prices and styles vary by store, but you can generally buy non-latex balloons for $3 to $5 each and you can have them filled with helium for an additional $1 to $8. If the stores near you don’t have the style of balloons you want, Amazon sells a wide range of unfilled latex-free options.
