Where Can I Get My Ring Re-Dipped?

Independent and chain jewelry stores may offer re-dipping services for rings and other jewelry. Some jewelers will only re-dip jewelry originally purchased at their stores; others will allow you to bring in jewelry from any store for re-dipping.

Re-dipping restores a ring to its original luster when the coating on the metal begins to show signs of wear. This coating is also known as rhodium plating and is most commonly used for white gold rings. Rhodium plating lasts about two to five years, and each time the rhodium plating wears down, the ring will need re-dipped. Other types of metal, such as platinum, are not typically dipped before you purchase them and will not require re-dipping.
