Banks That Cash Insurance Checks for Non-Customers
Banks like SunTrust Bank and U.S. Bank will cash insurance checks for customers only; you can always cash insurance checks at banks where you have checking and savings accounts. However, the following banks will also cash insurance checks for non-customers:
Bank of America
- Details: Bank of America will cash insurance checks for non-customers only if the checks are drawn on Bank of America. You can cash the check at a full-service Bank of America financial center (not a drive-up location).
- Requirements: Photo ID, such as a driver’s license
- Fee: $8
- Limit: $1,000
Chase
- Details: Chase will cash insurance settlement checks for non-customers if the check is drawn on Chase Bank or JP Morgan Bank. Check-cashing restrictions may apply at the discretion of the individual branch.
- Requirements: Photo ID, such as a driver’s license, is required. For checks over certain amounts, branches may require a second form of ID, such as a debit/credit card or passport.

Citibank
- Details: Citibank will cash insurance settlement checks drawn on Citibank accounts and non-Citibank accounts if the check is under the limit and payable to a single payee.

Ingo Money
Note: The issuer of your bank debit card, prepaid card, PayPal account, or another funding account may impose additional fees and limits separate from those imposed by Ingo Money.
- Details: You can cash an insurance check using the Ingo Money app. Receive the funds in one of your linked bank accounts, prepaid cards, credit cards, or PayPal accounts, or on an Amazon gift card.
- Requirements: Active Ingo Money account
- Fee: 5% (with a $5 minimum fee per check) for immediate cashing; no fee if you choose to wait 10 days to receive your money. If you’ve cashed six or more checks within the prior 90-day period, you will qualify for Ingo Gold Preferred Pricing, and the fee to cash insurance checks will be 4%, with a minimum $5 fee.

PayPal
- Details: PayPal offers check cashing with the PayPal app; you receive the funds in your online PayPal account when your check is approved, and then you can transfer the money to your bank account.
