What Stores Take CareCredit?

CareCredit is a health-focused credit card that allows cardholders to pay for medical expenses over time. You can use CareCredit at many clinics, dentists, optical centers, and veterinary offices, among other healthcare providers.

You can also use CareCredit at a small number of retail stores to purchase health and wellness products such as over-the-counter medications or personal care products. CareCredit’s retail partners at the time of this writing are:

Duane Reade (as previously reported)
Rite Aid
Sam’s Club
Walgreens (as previously reported)
Walmart (as previously reported)

We confirmed this information with store customer service representatives and CareCredit representatives; CareCredit also lists partner information on its website. You cannot use CareCredit at other retail stores that are not CareCredit partners.

Eligible Purchases

CareCredit is only valid on select items at retail stores. Representatives for CareCredit, Duane Reade, Rite Aid, Sam’s Club, Walgreens, and Walmart were unable to provide complete lists of the eligible brands or products at their stores; however, CareCredit provides a list of some qualifying product categories, as detailed below.

Note that the list of qualifying products is meant to act as a general guideline and is not a guarantee of approval for your purchase. While Duane Reade, Rite Aid, and Walgreens sell mostly health-related products and accept CareCredit for most available items, not all products or brands at Walmart and Sam’s Club are eligible for CareCredit.

How to Use CareCredit at Stores

Each of the retailers listed above only accepts CareCredit for in-store purchases; you cannot use it on the retailer’s website or mobile app, nor can you use it to place orders over the phone. Additionally, CareCredit purchases at these stores are not eligible for any of CareCredit’s promotional financing offers.

You must pay using your physical CareCredit card when making a retail purchase. Since CareCredit may not cover all of the items in your order, it is a good idea to have a second form of payment on hand. Swipe your CareCredit card first; it will automatically identify and pay for the qualifying items. You can then pay the remainder of your balance using a different payment method.
