You may be able to use PayPal to buy groceries in-store, depending on how your account is set up and which payment methods the grocery store accepts. (You must link your PayPal account to Google Pay or Samsung Pay to shop in stores.) You can also use PayPal to buy groceries by ordering your groceries online through certain delivery services. Below, we detail how and where to use PayPal for grocery purchases.

What Grocery Stores Accept PayPal?

To use PayPal at a brick-and-mortar grocery store, you’ll need to link your PayPal account to Google Pay or Samsung Pay. If you link PayPal to your Samsung Pay or Google Pay account, you can use PayPal anywhere that accepts those mobile wallets. (Apple Pay users cannot use PayPal at brick-and-mortar stores at the time of this writing.) For information on how to link your PayPal account with Samsung Pay or Google Pay, see our full list of stores that take PayPal.

Keep in mind that payment methods can vary by store location, particularly at grocery stores that are independently-owned or in the process of rolling out mobile payment options. It’s a good idea to contact your local store to ask about its accepted payment methods before visiting or bring a back-up payment method, such as a credit card.
