Wegmans’ Check Cashing Policy

Wegmans does not cash checks, a corporate customer service representative said. We contacted Wegmans grocery stores in Maryland, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania to confirm this information; none of the stores we called cash checks, including personal checks, business checks, payroll checks, or any other checks.

You can, however, pay for your groceries with a personal check; starter checks and other types of checks are not accepted. When paying by check, you can request up to $60 in cash back. Personal checks will be verified using Certegy, a third-party check verification service.
