Short Answer

The Walmart vacuum return policy allows for returns within 90 days of purchase with or without a receipt, but you must have the original packaging and all vacuum accessories. You can also mail in your vacuum return if you purchased it online. For more specifics on the Walmart vacuum return policy, see below.

Walmart Vacuum Return Policy Explained

You can return a vacuum to Walmart for any reason within 90 days of purchase, per Walmart’s standard return policy. This general 90-day return policy includes vacuums and other household items, including some appliances.

We contacted Walmart stores in Alabama, Mississippi, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Wisconsin to confirm adherence to this policy. Store associates told us that to ensure a quick and easy return, you should bring the vacuum to the customer service desk with your sales receipt. You also need to have the original packaging — the box can be opened, but you still need the box and all vacuum accessories.[1] You can also choose to exchange the vacuum for one of the same model.

If you don’t have your receipt, you can still make a return, but your refund may come in the form of store credit; with a receipt, you’ll be refunded to your original form of payment.[2]

Online Vacuum Returns

For a vacuum you purchased from Walmart.com, you can return it in-store or by mail. To return by mail, you’ll need to log in to your Walmart.com account, find your order, and print the free return shipping label. You will need to ship the vacuum with its original packaging and all accessories within 90 days of receiving your order. If you bought the vacuum from a third-party retailer on Walmart.com, you’ll need to contact the Marketplace Seller and follow its return policy, as outlined on Walmart’s website.

More Information

If you need to clean your carpets more thoroughly than a vacuum will allow, you may want to use a carpet cleaner. You can typically rent these for a period of time, instead of buying one outright. You can check out our article for information about renting a carpet cleaner from Walmart.
