Short Answer

The Walmart tent return policy allows returns within 90 days of purchase — even if it’s used, damaged, or defective. You can return a tent to a Walmart store or, if you purchased the tent online, you can mail in your return. For more details, see below.

Walmart Tent Return Policy

Walmart has a standard return policy for most items sold in stores and online — tents and other camping equipment fall under this general 90-day return policy. You can return a tent to Walmart with or without a receipt within 90 days of purchase — in the box, opened, and/or if it’s damaged or defective.[1] You can also exchange the tent for one of the same model.

We contacted Walmart stores in California, Iowa, Nevada, Virginia, and Washington to confirm adherence to this policy. We were told that to return a tent in-store, you should bring it to the customer service desk. You need to have all of the original packaging and accessories, and if you also have the sales receipt, the return will be even easier. If you’ve taken the tent out of the box and can’t get it fully back in, you can still make a return; our article has more information on returning opened items to Walmart (with or without the box).

If you don’t have the receipt, your refund may come in the form of store credit; with a receipt, a refund will be issued to your original form of payment.[1]

Online Tent Returns

You can return or exchange a tent purchased from Walmart.com to any Walmart store location, or you can mail in your return. To begin a mail-in return, you can look up your order online, print the return shipping label, then ship the tent back to Walmart within 90 days. The return will be processed in about two to three weeks.[2]

Note that if you purchased a tent on Walmart.com that came from a third-party seller, you may not be able to return or exchange it. You can contact the Marketplace Seller to find out its return requirements.[2]
