While you can’t cash money orders at Tops Friendly Markets, you can purchase Western Union money orders at its customer service desk. We contacted stores in New York, Pennsylvania, and Vermont to confirm this information.
Purchase Fees and Limits
There’s a $1 fee to purchase a money order and a hard limit of $500 per money order. If you need more than $500 in money orders, you can purchase multiple money orders.
Purchase Requirements
You don’t need any sort of membership or loyalty card to buy a money order at Tops Friendly Markets. However, you do need to bring a government-issued photo ID (e.g., your driver’s license). At most store locations (including all of those we contacted), cash is the only acceptable payment method for money orders.
