The Target TV return policy allows for returns and exchanges within 30 days of purchase. Target accepts TV returns in the original packaging (the box can be opened but not damaged or missing) and with your receipt or original form of payment handy. An extended return period of 60 days is available for Target REDcard holders. More rules and restrictions of the Target TV return policy are detailed below.

Target TV Return Policy Detailed

Target accepts TV returns and exchanges within 30 days of purchase for any reason. The Target return policy is listed online. We also contacted Target’s corporate customer service department and several Target stores to confirm which rules specifically apply to TVs. A few exceptions to the 30-day return period are:

  • Target REDcard holders get an additional 30 days to make returns — making the return period for TVs purchased with a REDcard 60 days.
  • For electronics, including TVs, purchased near the holidays, the 30-day return period starts on Dec. 26, instead of on the date of purchase.

In-store purchases should be returned to a nearby Target store, while online purchases can be returned to a Target store or by mail. If you purchased a large TV and are unable to return it to the store safely, your order may be eligible for free return pickup. Call Target’s guest services department at (800) 591-3869 to see if your return qualifies for home pickup.

To make a return, the TV should be in its original, undamaged packaging (the box can be opened). Keep in mind that Target may refuse a refund if you don’t have the original packaging or if the box is damaged. You should also bring your receipt. If you paid for your purchase using one of the following payment methods, a store associate may be able to look up your transaction:

  • Check (Bring a blank check from the same bank account)
  • Credit card
  • Debit card
  • Gift card
  • Target REDcard

If you don’t have your receipt and the store is unable to look up your order, you can still get a refund — but it will likely be in the form of store credit.

Defective TVs may be eligible for repair or replacement beyond the return period if you added a SquareTrade TV protection plan to your purchase. Protection plans range from about $8 to $105 and cover mechanical failures, electrical failures, and normal wear and tear. SquareTrade plans do not cover accidents, intentional damage, loss, or theft.

In Summary

TVs purchased at Target can be returned within 30 days. Extended return periods are available for REDcard holders and around the holidays. For a smooth in-store return process, have your receipt or form of payment handy and make sure your item is in its original packaging. Online purchases can be returned in-store or by mail.
