Safeway Carpet Cleaner Rental Policy

Safeway rents out Rug Doctor carpet cleaners at most locations, corporate customer service representatives at Safeway and Rug Doctor confirmed. Since not all Safeway locations offer carpet cleaner rental, you may want to call your local Safeway.

There are three different models of Rug Doctor carpet cleaners available to rent: the X3 Carpet Cleaner, the Pro Deep Cleaner, and the Pro Portable Detailer & Spot Cleaner. Rental options may vary by location, however.

Rug Doctor’s X3 Carpet Cleaner costs $29.99 for 24 hours or $39.99 for 48 hours. If you require a deeper clean, Rug Doctor’s Pro Deep Cleaner costs $34.99 for 24 hours or $44.99 for 48 hours. Rug Doctor’s Pro Portable Detailer & Spot Cleaner spot cleans carpets and upholstery; it costs $19.99 for four hours, $24.99 for 24 hours, or $34.99 for 48 hours. Attachments range between $4.99 and $5.99 and allow you to clean hard and soft surfaces with your rental machine.

Rug Doctor carpet cleaners need a cleaning solution, which you can also purchase from Safeway. Rug Doctor’s own-brand cleaning solutions range between $4.99 and $23.99, but you’re free to use another company’s solution, or even make your own if you prefer.

Safeway requires two forms of identification to rent out a Rug Doctor carpet cleaner. Acceptable forms of ID include a driver’s license, passport, military ID card, student photo ID, credit card, state/DMV-issued photo ID, immigration card with photo, or a store check cashing card.

If you don’t return the carpet cleaner within the allotted timeframe, you’ll be charged the initial amount you paid to rent the machine each day until it’s returned, customer service representatives said. And, if you don’t return the machine clean, some locations may charge a cleaning fee of around $15 to $30.
