Here’s the MoneyGram check cashing policy in plain language. MoneyGram offers a variety of services to its customers, but it does not have check cashing services. Here’s what else to know.

Does MoneyGram Cash Checks?

MoneyGram is the second-largest money transfer company in the world, according to its website, and it offers a number of different services, including money orders and money transfers, but it does not offer check cashing services.

According to a MoneyGram customer service agent, there is no way to transfer a check of any kind to MoneyGram and then get cash or even a money order. And, if you want to send money, you’ll need to use a credit or debit card — or send the money directly from your bank account. To purchase a money order you’ll need to visit your nearest MoneyGram location and bring cash and your photo ID.

Where to Cash Checks

If you need to cash a check, your best bet is a branch of your personal bank. If you don’t have a bank account, don’t worry. See our article, The Banks That Cash Checks Even If You Don’t Have an Account, for a list of banks and fee information.

In Summary

MoneyGram doesn’t cash checks, but that doesn’t mean you’re out of luck. If you have a bank account, your bank will cash a check for you. If you don’t have a bank account, see our articles — linked above — for other places that will cash your check.
