Luby’s is a casual dining restaurant with locations in Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Texas. The restaurant even appears on TV’s King of the Hill as Luly’s restaurant, and supposedly, the character Luanne Platter is named after the LuAnn entree at Luby’s. If you’re a senior or if you’d like to take a senior out to eat, the Luby’s senior discount may interest you. We’ve found out all the details of the Luby’s senior discount for you, and if you’re looking for some variety, we’ve also found some similar restaurants that will give you a senior discount.

Luby’s Senior Discount

Luby’s senior discount is usually available Monday through Friday, starting at 3 p.m., and ending between 5 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.. Discount days and times vary by location, so call your nearest Luby’s ahead of time to make sure they’ll be offering the discount when you’re going out.

The minimum age for the discount is 55 at some locations and 65 at others. If you’re between 55 and 64 years old, be sure to call your local Luby’s ahead of time to confirm if you qualify for the senior discount. According to the Luby’s employees we spoke with, while they usually don’t ask for an ID because seniors look like seniors, it’s best to have an ID with you in case they need to verify your age. Since there’s no official ID rule, any ID that shows your date of birth should be sufficient.

At most Luby’s locations, you can only use the senior discount for the LuAnn meal, which brings the price down to $6.49 (or $5.99 at some locations) from the original price of $7.99. The LuAnn meal consists of an entree — which ranges by location and day but often includes options such as baked fish, fried fish, roasted chicken, fried chicken, chicken fried steak, roast beef, and chopped steak — as well as two sides of your choice and a bread roll. A small minority of the Luby’s we called offer a senior discount of 10% off anything on the menu. This senior discount can only be used by the senior, for the senior.
