Wegmans Food Markets take WIC at some store locations, namely those in Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. Does Wegmans Accept WIC?

Certain Wegmans Food Markets locations accept WIC — but not all of them. WIC-approved retailers are assigned on a state-by-state basis, which means that supermarket chains like Wegmans with stores across multiple states are not always approved in every operating state. You can contact your state or local agency and/or your nearest Wegmans Food Markets to find out if a specific store location takes WIC.

Wegmans Food Markets is a supermarket chain headquartered in Gates, N.Y. It has more than 90 locations in six states across the East Coast. We were able to confirm with each state’s WIC-governing agency that Wegmans locations in the following states accept WIC:

• Maryland
• New Jersey
• New York
• Pennsylvania
• Virginia

Of the states in which Wegmans operates, only Massachusetts did not include Wegmans on its WIC-approved vendor list, according to our research. (Massachusetts provides a list of all other WIC-approved retailers at Mass.gov.) However, keep in mind that WIC-approved vendor statuses may change at the state’s discretion.

The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) is a federal nutrition assistance program for pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum women, as well as infants and young children. Although WIC is a federal program, it operates at the state level and services may vary by state. In all states, however, the program makes staple foods available to eligible recipients. WIC foods include peanut butter, juice, milk, rice, fresh vegetables, infant formula, and more.
