Short Answer

Sheetz convenience stores accept EBT for purchases of packaged food. You cannot buy fuel with your EBT card at Sheetz. For more details, see below.

Does Sheetz Accept EBT?

Sheetz accepts EBT for qualifying purchases in its convenience stores. You cannot use EBT to buy gas or get cash back at Sheetz (as previously reported). We confirmed this information by checking the USDA’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) retailer directory and contacting the Sheetz customer service department.

Qualifying Purchases

As noted above, you cannot use your SNAP benefits to buy fuel. You also cannot use them to buy prepared/hot foods like burgers and french fries off of the Sheetz “M-T-O” menu. However, Sheetz does sell a variety of items that are EBT-eligible, including:

  • Candy
  • Chips
  • Dairy products
  • Bottled and cold drinks

See our full list of items you can and cannot buy with EBT.

How to Use EBT at Sheetz

Your EBT card is compatible with a standard card reader; you can use it just like you would a debit or credit card at Sheetz.

Note that since not all purchases at Sheetz will qualify for EBT, it is a good idea to keep a second payment method on hand. (Sheetz accepts cash, credit cards, debit cards, Mastercard PayPass, and Google Wallet.) If you swipe your EBT card first, you can split your purchase, using SNAP benefits for your EBT-eligible items and a second payment method for the remaining items.
