Short Answer

Sam’s Club accepts EBT cards at all locations; however, you cannot use SNAP benefits for online purchases at Sam’s Club. For more information on using EBT/SNAP to pay at Sam’s Club, see below.

Does Sam’s Club Take EBT?

Sam’s Club accepts Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) cards for approved products at every store location, customer service representatives said. However, EBT cards are not a valid payment option for Sam’s Club online purchases.

Our previous research details which products you can buy with EBT cards/Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. We contacted Sam’s Club stores in California, Florida, Kansas, Mississippi, and New York; all of the locations we spoke with accept EBT in stores for SNAP-approved items like bread, fruit, vegetables, and meat.

While EBT cards are a valid payment method for existing Sam’s Club members, you cannot use your EBT card to purchase a new Sam’s Club membership.

Other Payment Methods at Sam’s Club

You can purchase EBT and non-EBT items in the same transaction at Sam’s Club by paying with your EBT card first, then using an alternate payment method to pay for the remainder of your order. If you need to purchase items that are not approved SNAP purchases, such as paper products or household supplies, you can use the following:

  • Cash
  • Check
  • Credit card
  • Debit card
  • Prepaid card
  • Sam’s Club credit card
  • Walmart credit card
  • Walmart and Sam’s Club gift cards and eGift cards
