Short Answer

Family Dollar accepts EBT as payment for SNAP-eligible food items like dairy products and frozen entrees. You can also pay with cash, check, or debit card. For more details, see below.

Does Family Dollar Accept EBT/SNAP/Food Stamps?

Family Dollar takes Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) cards for approved purchases, a corporate customer service representative said. We also contacted Family Dollar locations in Arizona, California, Florida, Minnesota, and Ohio to confirm this information.

EBT cards are primarily used by participants of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as the food stamps program. You can use your EBT card to purchase SNAP-eligible food items. Family Dollar sells many SNAP-eligible products, including milk, cheese, ground beef, bacon, hot dogs, frozen entrees, canned pasta, and snack foods. (See our full list of EBT-eligible items.)

Other Payment Methods at Family Dollar

In addition to EBT, Family Dollar accepts cash, checks, and debit cards with a PIN. Most Family Dollar stores also accept credit cards. Family Dollar does not accept WIC.

Other Stores That Take EBT

99 Cents Only Stores are located in some of the same states as Family Dollar and also take EBT; for more details, see our related article on the 99 Cents Only Stores EBT policy.
