Short Answer

Chevron accepts EBT at select locations. You can use your EBT card to buy unprepared foods like bread and chips, but not gas. For more information on using EBT at Chevron, see below.

Does Chevron Take EBT?

Chevron’s gas station convenience stores accept Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) cards at select government-approved locations. We confirmed this information by checking several official state Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) retailer lists and contacting Chevron locations.

To find out whether your nearest Chevron station accepts EBT, you can check the USDA’s SNAP retailer locator or contact the station directly.

Eligible Purchases

You can only use EBT to purchase approved food items — so you cannot use it to buy gas at Chevron. You can use your EBT card to pay for foods like:

  • Bread and cereal
  • Fruits and vegetables
  • Meats, fish, and poultry
  • Dairy products
  • Seeds and plants

For more information about EBT-eligible items, see our research on what you can and can’t buy with food stamps.

How to Use EBT at Chevron

An EBT card functions like a debit card — you can use the regular card reader when paying for your purchases at Chevron. If your order includes items that EBT does not cover or your balance is low, you might want to keep a second payment method on hand. You can use your EBT card for eligible items first, then pay the difference with an alternative payment method. Chevron accepts cash, debit cards, and all major credit cards (as previously reported).

Other Places That Accept EBT

Other gas stations also accept SNAP benefits; see our full list of gas stations that take EBT. And, for more options, see our list of stores that accept EBT.
