Costco Printer Return Policy Explained

Costco accepts returns of printers within 90 days of purchase. As long as you purchased the printer within 90 days, you can return it for any reason and in any condition. This policy holds no matter how much you’ve used the printer — even if you’ve run it out of ink, according to customer service.

Although printers aren’t listed under Costco’s electronics exception policy, they are considered an exception to Costco’s standard risk-free return policy, representatives for Costco’s corporate customer service department and concierge services technical support team told us.

Most items purchased from Costco can be returned for any reason at any time — but there are a few exceptions. Electronics must be returned within 90 days from the date of purchase.

Ink Bottle and Cartridge Returns

Ink bottles and cartridges are also an exception to Costco’s general return policy. You typically cannot return printer ink unless it arrives damaged from an online order or is defective, according to corporate customer service. This is because inks and toners have limited useful life expectancies.

While it does not offer ink returns, Costco does have a recycling program for empty ink and toner cartridges, as well as an inkjet cartridge refill program.

Return and Refund Process

To make a return in-store, you’ll need to take the printer to the returns counter for a refund to your original payment method. A receipt will expedite your return, but you can still make a return without a receipt.

If you purchased the printer from Costco.com, you can either return it to a brick-and-mortar location or sign in to your Costco.com account and fill out a return request (free return shipping is available). Once your return is accepted, the full purchase price, including any applicable shipping and handling charges, will be refunded to your original method of payment.
