Cash for Gift Cards at Safeway? Gift Card Buyback Policy Explained

You cannot sell gift cards at Safeway, including third-party gift cards you originally purchased at Safeway. We contacted multiple stores in Virginia, Maryland, Nebraska, Arizona, and Oregon to confirm this information.

Associates at several stores directed us to other Safeway locations that they said would purchase gift cards. However, when we contacted those locations, we found that they no longer provide such a service.

Safeway does not have a gift card buyback program at the register or the customer service desk.  Additionally, we cross-referenced the Safeway locations we contacted with Cardpool’s gift card buyback kiosk finder; no Safeway stores are listed as participants.
