Short answer: BI-LO sells money orders at all of its stores for a fee of $1. It does not cash them. We outline the details of the BI-LO money order policy below.

BI-LO Money Order Policy

BI-LO offers Western Union money orders for purchase at all of its stores, but it doesn’t cash money orders. We confirmed this information by contacting BI-LO stores in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia.

Money Order Purchase Fees and Limits

There is a $1 fee per money order and a limit of $500 per money order. You’ll need to purchase several money orders for any amount over $500 (e.g., two $500 money orders if you need $1,000).

How to Get a Money Order at BI-LO

Money orders can be purchased at the customer service desk. Money order hours are typically shorter than the regular store hours of 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., but they vary by location.

You don’t have to have any kind of membership to purchase a money order, but you should bring a photo ID, such as a driver’s license. Most BI-LO locations we contacted accept either cash or debit cards as payment for money orders, but it’s a good idea to double-check with your local store to be sure of its policy.
