Short Answer

Best Buy does not offer a senior discount. You can, however, save at Best Buy through its rewards program. For more information on the Best Buy senior discount policy, see below.

Best Buy Senior Discount Policy

Best Buy does not offer a discount to seniors, a corporate customer service representative said. We contacted Best Buy stores in Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, Montana, and Rhode Island to confirm this information. While none of the stores we contacted offer a senior discount, store associates suggested customers of all ages join the My Best Buy rewards program to earn points for every dollar spent at Best Buy. Points can be redeemed for reward certificates that can be used on qualifying Best Buy and BestBuy.com purchases.

My Best Buy Rewards Program

The My Best Buy rewards program is free to join. To sign up online or in-store, you must be at least 13 and a U.S. citizen.

There are three levels of the rewards program, based on how much you spend at Best Buy per calendar year. Once you spend a certain amount, your membership will automatically qualify for the next level. All levels receive a $5 reward certificate for every $250 spent. The three levels are:

  • My Best Buy: You’ll receive 1% (half a point for each dollar spent) on purchases or 5% (2.5 points for each dollar spent) on My Best Buy Credit Card purchases. Other benefits include a birthday coupon and access to special offers, as well as free shipping on purchases of at least $35.
  • My Best Buy Elite: You’ll need to spend $1,500 in one calendar year to reach the Elite level. Reward points at this level are 1 point for each dollar spent or 5% (2.5 points for each dollar spent) on My Best Buy Credit Card purchases. The return and exchange period for purchases increases to 30 days at this level, and you’ll qualify for free delivery with no minimum purchase. Other benefits include a birthday coupon and the option to bank your rewards points.
  • My Best Buy Elite Plus: You’ll need to spend $3,500 in one calendar year to reach the Elite Plus level. Reward points at this level are 2.5% (1.25 points for each dollar spent) on purchases or 6% (3 points per dollar) on My Best Buy Credit Card purchases. The return and exchange period for purchases increases to 45 days at this level, and you’ll qualify for free two-day shipping with no minimum purchase. Other benefits include a birthday coupon and the option to bank your rewards points.
