Best Buy allows iPad and tablet returns within 14 days of purchase. The return window is the same for My Best Buy Elite and Elite Plus members. Best Buy iPad & Tablet Return Policy

Best Buy’s return window for iPads, tablets, and any other device that requires activation is 14 days for all customers — including My Best Buy Elite and Elite Plus members, a corporate customer service representative said. This policy also applies to defective tablets. We were told that a valid photo ID and the receipt are needed for a full refund. Your refund will be issued to your original payment method, so be sure to bring your credit card (if applicable). Cash purchases totaling more than $800 and purchases made with a check or debit card without a major logo will be refunded via a mailed check within 10 days of your return.

You can return an iPad or tablet that has been opened and activated (such as setting up an account and password to use the device), but you may be subject to a restocking fee of $35 to $45 if your device is cellular-enabled and has a data plan. You’ll need to bring the original packaging and any accessories that were included in the box when you make the return. There is no fee if you return an unopened tablet within 14 days. All returns are subject to Best Buy’s approval system.

If you set up a tablet for use and decide to return it, keep in mind that it is your responsibility to remove all account information before returning it to the store. If your device has a contract carrier, it is also your responsibility to cancel the contract and pay any corresponding fees and charges.

To confirm the corporate policy, we contacted Best Buy locations in Arizona, Georgia, Iowa, Ohio, and South Dakota. All of the Best Buy locations we contacted adhere to the tablet return policy as specified by Best Buy’s corporate customer service department.
