GameStop doesn’t offer repairs for consoles, controllers, discs, or other equipment. We contacted stores in several states, including California, Texas, and Florida, to confirm this information.

You can find repair services for popular items like Xbox, PS4, and 3DS at other stores, such as local game stores, Best Buy, and uBreakiFix (which also offers a mail-in option). Cell phone repair stores may also offer repairs for game consoles.

To save money on repairs, you may also want to consider repairing the item(s) yourself. There are plenty of online video tutorials that show how to repair and take apart controllers/consoles. Many gamers enjoy finding tutorials and making their own repairs.

How to Get a Replacement

If you do not want to do your own repairs or find another local store that does repairs, there are several ways you may be able to get a new, functional replacement for your item at GameStop.

GameStop offers a 30-day return and exchange policy for most items. If you purchased a pre-owned item, you can return it within seven days or exchange it within 30 days.

After the GameStop’s 30-day policy expires, you may still be eligible for the manufacturer’s warranty. For example, Nintendo systems carry a standard 12-month warranty, though it’s worth noting that it does not cover used items or physical damage.
