Where to Order Shoes Online & Pick up in Stores

Several shoe stores, department stores, and sporting goods stores allow you to order shoes online and pick them up at your local store. There is no fee for this service; just choose store pick-up as your shipping option when placing your order online and select your preferred store location.

In-store product availability determines whether you can pick up your order in the store. You can usually pick up the shoes the day you place the order if they are in stock. Some retailers may be willing to ship items from one store to another so you can pick them up at the most convenient location, but note that this will increase your wait time for pick-up.

Most stores will hold the shoes for a few days if you can’t pick them up right away. If you do not pick up your order by the end of the store’s hold time, it will cancel your order and refund your money to the original payment method.

We contacted major retailers across the U.S. to confirm their in-store pick-up policies. The following retailers offer free in-store pick up for online shoe orders:

If you can print the email, it will allow the associate to scan and locate your order quickly. If you do not live near Walmart, you can also ship orders to FedEx Office locations.
  • Hold time: FedEx Offices and Walmart stores will hold your order for seven days.

Alternate Pick-Up Person

Most stores that allow store pick-up for shoes also allow customers to add an alternate pick-up person to their online order during check-out. Follow the prompts as you complete your transaction to add the alternate person’s name to your order. Some retailers also ask for the alternate person’s email address. The alternate person will have to show their photo ID and your order number to pick up the shoes.

Of the stores that appear in the list above, only DICK’S Sporting Goods and Foot Locker told us they do not allow an alternate pick-up person.

If you or your alternate pick-up person do not retrieve your order by the end of a store’s stated hold time, the retailer will cancel your order and refund your money to the original payment method.
