Short Answer: You can return video game consoles like the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One to Walmart within 30 days of purchase. To make a return or exchange, you’ll need to bring the original packaging and everything that was packaged inside, plus the receipt. For more details of Walmart’s PS4 and Xbox One return policies, see below.

Walmart PS4 Return Policy & Walmart Xbox One Return Policy

You must return certain items, including video game hardware like the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, to Walmart within 30 days of purchase with the original receipt if you want to get a refund or make an exchange.[1]

To confirm adherence to this policy, we contacted Walmart stores in Arkansas, Florida, Mississippi, and South Carolina. All of the store associates we spoke with said you’ll need to bring your receipt to return a PS4 or Xbox One. However, if you lost your receipt but paid using a credit card, you can look up your store receipt at Walmart.com

You must also bring the console’s original packaging and all of the accessories that came with it in order to make the return.[2]. However, you can usually still make a return if the box has been opened (as previously reported).

During our research, we found that a few Walmart stores would only extend a 14-day return period for PS4 and Xbox One purchases. Customer service representatives told us that if your local Walmart says you only have two weeks to make a return or exchange and you attempt to make the return within 30 days, you can cite the corporate policy listed online, and your return may be approved.

Online PS4 and Xbox One Returns

If you purchased a PS4 or Xbox One from Walmart.com, you can return the console to any Walmart store, or you can mail in your return. To do this, simply log into your Walmart.com account and look up your order, then print the prepaid return shipping label. Ship the console — including the original packaging and all accessories — within 30 days, and your refund will be processed in about two to three weeks.[2]

Keep in mind that if you purchased the video game console from Walmart.com but it actually came from a Marketplace Seller, you may or may not be able to return it. Exact policies will vary — you should contact the seller to find out if your console is eligible for return.[3]

Wanted to exchange an Xbox because it’s not working. Have bank receipt because I purchased it with credit card. What do I do?

Hello, Darlene! As long as you purchased the Xbox within the past 15 days, you should be able to exchange it. Since you used a credit card, you can find your Walmart receipt using the Store Receipt Lookup tool at Walmart.com. We have updated our article to include this information. Best of luck with your exchange!
