Short Answer

JCPenney can look up a receipt in stores, as long as the purchase was made with a debit or credit card within six months to one year. For more details on JCPenney’s receipt lookup policy, see below.

Can JCPenney Look up a Receipt?

JCPenney store associates can look up a receipt if the purchase was made with a debit or credit card within around six months to one year, a corporate customer service representative said. To request receipt lookup, bring the item and the card you originally paid with to your local JCPenney store. As long as your purchase is still in the computer system, an associate will be able to look it up. We contacted JCPenney stores in Colorado, Florida, Michigan, New Mexico, and Oklahoma to verify this information.

JCPenney Return Policy

To make a return at JCPenney and get a full refund to your original payment method, you’ll need to bring the receipt or have the store look up your purchase. If the store is unable to look up your receipt, you may still be allowed to make a return or exchange — but you’ll be issued store credit for the lowest selling price of the item in the past 45 days. Returns without a receipt are not guaranteed.

I recently placed 3 online orders. My method of payment was my digital PayPay account. I have had several issues with these orders. I wish to just return everything, and have, on 4 occasions, emailed JCPenney to get the proper address to send returns to. For some reason, I haven’t been provided that information. There really should be no problem, because I have requested the address in a very straightforward manner. I am sitting on $700 of merchandise. I want a full refund. I paid online with my digital PayPal account. Would someone please assist me?

Hello, Donna! JCPenney lists its return addresses on the Return Policy page of its website. (Scroll down to the “Easy ways to return your order” section.) There are three return facilities: Columbus, Kansas City, and Reno. You should choose the facility that is closest to you. You can also return online purchases to a JCPenney store. Best of luck with your returns!

Hello, Marlet! Since you purchased the sandals online, you can log in and view your order history at JCPenney.com or show your order confirmation email. Your local store should be able to process the return using either of these as proof of purchase. For more information on the requirements for shoe returns, see our article on JCPenney’s shoe return policy. Best of luck with your return!
