Costco’s general return policy applies to clothing purchases. You can return clothes at any time and for any reason, corporate customer service representatives said. You can also return clothes without the receipt (as previously reported) and without the tags attached. All clothing items are eligible for return.

Costco will even accept clothing returns after the item has been worn and/or washed. If you wash an item and its color fades or it shrinks, you can return it for a full refund, customer service representative said.

Note that while the item can show signs of wear, if you’ve worn it enough that it needs to be replaced from normal wear and tear (such as several years after purchase), Costco may deny the return. However, Costco’s return policy is generous and will usually accept the return.

Costco does not offer exchanges, a representative said. Instead, you can return the item and re-purchase a different color or size — if it’s in stock.

How to Return Clothes at Costco

You can return clothes purchased at Costco or from Costco.com to any store location. Purchases made on Costco.com can also be returned by mail. You will not be charged for return shipping and your refund will include any shipping and handling fees.

For in-store returns, you’ll need to show your Costco membership card. If you don’t have the receipt, a store associate can look up your order history using your member number. Refunds are issued to the original payment method.
