Target allows clothing returns within 90 days of the purchase date — or 120 days if the purchase was made with a Target REDcard. The exception: Clothing from Target-owned brands like Cat & Jack and A New Day can be returned or exchanged up to one year from the date of purchase with a receipt. For more information on the Target clothing return policy, see below.

Target Clothing Return Policy Explained

Target accepts clothing returns within 90 days of the date of purchase, a corporate customer service representative said. We contacted Target stores in Arizona, California, Florida, New York, and Wisconsin to confirm this information. Store associates added that if you made the clothing purchase with a Target REDcard, you have an additional 30 days to make a return. And, clothing from Target-owned brands can be returned up to one year after purchase with the original receipt. Target-owned brands include Cat & Jack, A New Day, and Xhilaration.

Returns attempted outside the Target return policy time frame will be declined. For quick and easy returns, bring your original sales receipt. However, if you can’t find your receipt, a store associate may be able to look up your transaction with the credit card you used to make the purchase. Returns without a receipt are subject to a store manager’s approval and may be refunded in the form of a merchandise return card.

Target will accept clothing returns with no tags attached; for more details, see our article.

Online orders can be returned to your local Target store or by mail. To return by mail, log in to your Target.com account and print a free return mailing label. Then, drop the package off at your nearest UPS location.

In Summary

Target accepts clothing returns up to 90 days after purchase — or up to 120 days after purchase if you used a Target REDcard. And, clothing from Target-owned brands can be returned up to one year after purchase with a receipt.
