The Walmart representative said it’s best if the tags are still attached and you have the original sales receipt from your in-store or online purchase — although you may still be able to do a return without a receipt. If you removed the tags on a damaged or defective clothing item, you may still be able to return or exchange it as long as you have the receipt. In general, return requests in stores without tags or proof of purchase are subject to a store manager’s approval.
