Can You Purchase a Money Order at Vons?

Yes, you can purchase a money order at Vons. In fact, you can purchase both MoneyGram and Western Union money orders at every store. In order to find out what you may need to know to purchase one of these money orders, we messaged Vons’ Facebook Page and called several store locations. Through conversations with several different Vons customer service representatives, we discovered the information below.

How to Purchase a Money Order at Vons

To purchase a money order at Vons, head to the customer service desk and tell the associate which brand of money order you’d like (MoneyGram or Western Union). Most locations accept cash or debit cards for money order purchases, but one of the stores we called was cash-only, so you may want to call your local store to confirm its payment policy if you plan to use a debit card. Vons’ store hours vary by location, but money orders are generally available from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Vons MoneyGram

Every Vons store has MoneyGram money orders available at the customer service booth. Just ask for a MoneyGram (also known as a Traveler’s Express money order). You can purchase a money order of up to $500 for a fee of only $0.89. No form of ID is required.

Vons Western Union

Every Vons store has Western Union money orders available at the customer service desk. There’s no dollar limit on the amount you can purchase, but Western Union money orders can only be printed in $1,000 increments. If you wish to purchase more than $2,999.99 worth of money orders, a manager will have to be present to approve and override the transaction. Fees for the money orders will range from $0.99 to $1.50 depending on money order amount and the individual store’s policy. Again, no form of ID is required.

Can You Cash or Refund a Money Order at Vons?

Vons cannot refund or cash money orders for you, even if you purchased the money order at a Vons store. This rule is the same whether you used Vons MoneyGram or Vons Western Union. To find out where you can cash out a money order from Vons, see our list of 20+ places that cash money orders.
