Drugstores/Pharmacies

Some national drugstores and pharmacies have notaries on staff.  We contacted several national pharmacy chain locations and found some that offer notary services:

  • Rite Aid: Some locations have a notary public on staff. Typical Sunday hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., though some stores are open later. Contact your nearest Rite Aid to find out if they offer notary services.
  • Walgreens: Some locations have a notary public on staff. Typical Sunday hours are 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.. Contact your nearest Walgreens to find out if they offer notary services.

We found that CVS drugstores do not generally have notary services available at their stores.

Hospitals

Hospitals do not typically have notaries on staff, but many contract with notary service providers and/or will bring in an independent notary as needed. Hospitals operate on Sundays, so if you are at a hospital on Sunday and require a notary service, you can check with the service desk to find out how to get a notary to come to you.

Public Libraries

Most libraries are open on Sundays (possibly with limited hours), and many have notaries on staff at the customer service desk. The service is typically free, so if you need to get something notarized on a Sunday, you can call ahead to your local library, then take your documents there.

What Do You Need to Bring to a Notary?

Notarized signatures are required for certain types of documents. This commonly includes legal documents, wills, power of attorney papers, medical documents, mortgages and deeds, various affidavits, vehicle titles (in some states), contracts, and more.

So the first thing you’ll need to bring with you to a notary is the document itself. Keep in mind that in order to be legal, you must sign the document in the presence of the notary, who is required to witness your signature.
