The best place to sell your furniture in-person is usually a consignment shop. Consignment shops let you keep up to about 60% of the item’s resale value. Unlike estate sales, consignment shops also allow you to choose individual furniture items to sell rather than selling the entire contents of a home.

However, in general, online peer-to-peer marketplaces are the best places to sell your furniture. While this option requires more effort on your part since you’ll need to list the items and arrange the sales yourself, you will also keep all of the profits, can set your own price, and may be able to avoid listing fees depending on which peer-to-peer selling platform you choose. Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, letgo, and OfferUp do not charge listing fees for sellers. Peer-to-peer marketplaces also allow you the flexibility to negotiate pick-up or shipping for large or heavy items.
